MPS wins SENE & NEPSEC
Championships
 |
FC
Napoli's Coach Esad Darman MPS High School team are Champions for the
first time in school history. Coach Esad has been at Marianapolis
Preparatory School since 2002. When he began seven years ago the
team was at the bottom of the league hardly winning even a game a
season.
Over the past
few years the team has risen to the top of the League and behind the
outstand play of captains Pat Crowley (defender) and Eric
LaFramboise (midfielder). Mauricio Celada returning from Mexico
provided a strong presence in the midfield while Zach Sisko and
Riley Quinn anchoring a solid defense, have now won the NEPSEC.
The junior class led by (FC Napoli) goalkeeper Peter Boguszewski,
defenders Zack Morin and Greg Diaz, midfielder Trevor Ouellett and
forward Ben Gustavson proved to be quite five sum. These five have
been playing together since they were six and have been member of
the FC Napoli Blaze since U10. The MPS team should be favored to
repeat as Champions in 2010.
Congratulations MPS for an outstanding season!

FC
Napoli's Skyler Realejo stays
strong
 |
FC
Napoli's Skyler Realejo is one of the best young Goal-Keepers in the
league. She is certainly a goalie with as much potential at the U11
age group as any goalie that has warn an FC Napoli uniform. And that
is quite a statement since many Napoli goalies are currently playing
College soccer signing D1 & D2 letters and others playing in
top D3 programs throughout the NCAA. In addition as you look at many
of the current top high school Goalies / programs in the area many Keepers
have warn the same FC Napoli uniform as Skyler.
"She's
the real deal" said Coach Joe Simone, "She has the best instincts of
any young goalie I have coached at this age". Even with this
severe injury she is showing how strong a player/person she is.
Skyler suffered a
broken nose when she was struck in the face from an opponent high
kick. Due to the severity of the fracture she will need
surgery.
Coach
Esad said Skyler is the type of player you count on and she always
comes through. She is a strong players that is really the epitome of
the type of player we love to have on our club.
From the
entire Napoli family we wish this talented young Goal-Keeper a quick and full
recovery. Her positive personality is missed by her teammates and her
energy & talents will be most missed by everyone until she again steps
onto the field.
All the best
Skyler! We can't wait to see you back 100% and playing between the
posts.

Napoli GU11 own the
Domain
FC
Napoli GU11 Sizzlers won 2-1 today against Soccer Domain.
Abby Befford scored the the first goal in the first half. Half time
score was 1-0. In the second half Soccer Domain tied it up 1-1. Both
Napoli goalies Skyler Realjo and
Colleen Cutting had multiple great saves. With about 5
minutes left in the game Sarah Keefe scored the winning goal. "It
was a tremendous victory for the team" coach Simone said, thank
you girls for a great game.
Next week the Sizzlers travel
out to Western Ma to take on the Pioneers at
Ana
Dias 1 for an 11:30am game.

Three
(3) FC Napoli Champions / Memorial weekend Tournament
FC Napoli GU18 HEAT,
GU14 Sparks and the
GU13 Wildfire all win the 2009 JSMT
Elite Tournament in their respective age groups. Two other
FC Napoli teams, the GU18 Hawks and
the BU12 Raze, both were finalists in their divisions. All
FC Napoli Teams played in the Elite
divisions, top division in the tournament..
The U18 HEAT beat
the Souhegan United (NH) Region One team in the opener by a score of
3-0. They then played the Boston/Dorchester Soccer Club beating them by
a score of 9-0. On Sunday they played a well coach talented Bruno United
team squeezing out a victory by a score of 3-2 to advance to the GU18
playoff.
In the Semi Finals the Napoli
HEAT again face off with Souhegan United (NH). The
HEAT again scores 3 while Keeper
Melissa Cowan records her 3rd tournament shutout.
In the finals Napoli
was matched against Simmons Premier Soccer Club of central CT,
currently undefeated in the CT Premier league including two State Cup
victories. Simmons walked throughout the Tournament scoring 11 goals and
giving up only 3 as they entered the Championship game vs the
Napoli HEAT.
The Championship match ended in regulation as a 0-0 draw
(Melisa Cowan’s 4th shutout of the tournament and
seventh shutout of the spring season); the OT also ended in a 0-0 draw,
so onto PK’s to decide the 2009 JSMT Tournament Champion.
In dramatic fashion Dee Leary stepped in at goal
making spectacular saves on the 1st and 2nd
Simmons shooters, (something many of us can remember Dee doing
against Western United at CRU park when she stopped the final PK that
placed the HEAT into MAPLE some 4 yrs ago).
The 3rd Napoli
PK taken by Kate Cataldo hit the back right corner net to put
Napoli up 1-0. Simmons hit shot #3 (tying the game at 1), Jess
Berthiaume then slammed one in for Naps while the forth Simmons PK
blast also found the back of the net (tied 2-2). Melissa Cowan
took the 5th Napoli PK
placing a "Ronaldo" style legal feint move that froze the keeper as
Melissa placed the ball far right. Simmons then missed high on its
final attempt and the FC Napoli HEAT
won its 2nd JSMT Championship
(2004 & 2009).
The GU14 FC Napoli Sparks,
playing in the GU15 Elite division, claimed its championship by first
beating Black Magic (3-2) in the 8:00am Saturday morning opener. Goals
were scored by Emily Dawidczyk (2) and Erin Scanlon on an
outstanding header from a cross by Dinnea Digrigoli.
The second Sparks
game vs Nashoba United was played to a 1-1 draw, the FC Napoli goal was
scored by Jenna Scanlon with about 2 minutes remaining in the
match.
The third match game featured the GU15 Port Wash Power
of Connecticut against the Napoli Sparks.
The Napoli goals came in batches as
scoring came from 5 different players, Ashley Naugler, Emily
Dawidczyk, Maegan Hernberg, Emily Becher and two by
Jenna Scanlon. The Sparks won by
a score of 6-0.
The final game, ultimately the Championship game as both
teams entered the match undefeated, was against the GU15 Granite FC
Elite from NH. Jenna Scanlon got credit for the goal as the
Napoli pressure caused the ball to
deflect off two Granit United players before bouncing into the back of
the net just before the end of the first half. The second half saw the
Napoli defense, lead by Sweeper
Erin Scanlon and Keeper Jordann Hauge (2 shutouts in the
tournament) lockout the rock solid Granite United attack. The Napoli
defensive Backs and Stoppers, Gina Manzi, Morgan Lasewicz
& Kylie Lowe, closed out the quick Striker play of the
talented Granite Forwards. The 1-0 final
placed the
FC Napoli Sparks atop the GU15 Elite Division and
presented them with the 2009 JSMT Championship. The
FC Napoli Sparks will play in the
MAPLE Tournament on June 6th & 7th at Citizens
Bank Field at Progin Park in Lancaster.
The GU13 FC Napoli Wildfire,
also playing up an age group, took the GU14 Elite division by storm
sweeping the tournament and finishing it off with a strong victory in
the finals.
On Saturday, the first
GU13 FC Napoli Wildfire
game of the tournament was easily won by a score of 8-2. The
Wildfire saw a festival of goals
against the Simmons Soccer Club. This game was followed by a
another strong Napoli showing as the girls beat the Souhegan United by a
score of 3-0.
By Sunday the girls were on course and focused for
success. As the 8:00am Sunday match opened up against Pepperell United
it was obvious from the first moments that both teams were ready to
play. Coach Ed said " despite the tie this was the best game the
Wildfire have played in a long time".
There were some scoring opportunities on both sides, but despites the
domination in midfield by the
Wildfire, the match ended in
a draw.
With both teams still undefeated for the tournament
would place both into the Tournament finals.
So at 1:00pm Sunday The
GU13 FC Napoli Wildfire
and the GU15
Pepperell United teams squared up on the pitch for second time in five
hours to decide the GU15 Tournament Champion.
The
Wildfire
wasted no time getting it going as Danny Stone scored early in
the first half to give the team a lead they would not relinquish. The
second
Wildfire
goal when Maggy Simmone secured the win by scoring from a
perfectly placed corner kick from Meghan Dunn.
This 2-0 win gave the Wildfire their consecutive Memorial Day
tournament championship (Nashua 2008, JSMT 2009).
The FC Napoli Wildfire
will play in the MAPLE Tournament on June 6th & 7th
at Citizens Bank Field at Progin Park in Lancaster.

FC Napoli HEAT ride the RI Wave
The RI Tidal Wave arrived at their home field Rehoboth location,
Bliss Park, with an undefeated record and un-scored upon in almost a
year (since May 4th
of 2008). They left the 95
degree Blistering Park with their first loss of the season while allowing
two goals to the
(also undefeated since May
4th 2008)
FC Napoli GU18 HEAT.
The RI Wave keeper made numerous circus like stops all
match but Dee Leary
(Bentley College fall 2009)
and Kristen Lackman
(East Conn. College fall 2009)
each found the back of the net to secure the
Napoli victory.
Both Napoli goals came on set plays. The first a direct
from about 30 yds out. The HEAT got a chip behind the RI Wave defenders
to an attacking Dee Leary who volleyed the ball into the top of
the net hand cuffing the Wave goalie. "It was a perfectly executed well
timed play" Coach Bailey said.
The second goal came off another direct kick nearly 40
yds out. With the HEAT attack creating lots of motion in
front of the RI
Wave net Kristen Lackman hit a power blast into the upper far
post corner past the out stretched hands of the Wave Keeper.
With the Rehoboth Bliss Park heat reaching 95+ the
HEAT
were able to navigate through the strong Wave attack in the final 15
minutes of the match. The Wave had eighteen shots on goal thirteen in
the last 15 minutes.
Coach Bailey said "It was nice to be able to come down
here in the oppressive heat & humidity and play this well against a very
solid RI Tidal Wave team. It really shows the type of athletes we have.
Last week we spotted two to the Stars, but then two goals off the right foot of
Attack Striker Colleen Soper
(UMass Lowell fall 2009)
neutralized the outcome. This week we have two defensive players find
the back of the net. This win keeps us
undefeated for the season and places us in the driver’s seat for the home
stretch. If we can stay healthy and stay focused we should continue to
be successful".
The FC Napoli HEAT
team has been together since 2003
(GU13)
and in the last five MAPLE league seasons (32 games to date), has only
experienced defeat twice. Three MAPLE league games remaining for this
team, let’s hope the last three are the best.
The HEAT take on the high powered
offense of New
Hampshire's Granite United next Sunday at 1:00pm at Marianapoli. Granite
United leads the division in goals scored. The HEAT have the best goal
differential in the division, so it should be quite a match.

FC Napoli GU17 beat Western United
The
FC Napoli Inferno rolled it out
west to Oxbow field on Sunday. When the dust settled and the wagons
returned home they were carting a 2-0 victory with them. "The last few
games we have really played well, our defense was lockdown today. This
win is especially satisfying given the historic reputation of the
Western United Club", said coach Kusy. "We need to play with type of
intensity all the time".
Goals were scored
by, Jess Berthiaume and Sarah Bakun.
The Inferno play
the Vikings at 1:00pm at home/Marianapoli next Sunday.

Hawks Flying High
The
FC Napoli Hawks have gotten off to
an excellent start to their spring season. An overall strong team effort
has seen the Hawks score 9 goals and give up 1. In their first game
against Inter (a 6 - 0 win), the Hawks broke open a close game (1-0 lead
at the half) with 5 more unanswered goals.
The Hawks received
balanced scoring with goals from Melissa Leonard (2), Lori
Cloninger (2), Lauren Cadrin, and Dani Mitchell.
In the second
game, the Hawks carried the play to the SF Vikings, resulting in 2 first
half goals by Melissa Leonard off of a direct kick and Kayla
Mastovich who put in a nice left footed bending shot in the top
corner off of a cross. It could easily have been more as strikers
Jessica De St Croix and Michelle Thompson harassed the Viking
defense all game.
Lori Cloninger
finished the scoring off of a nice through pass. In addition to the
offense, the defense has been excellent allowing only the 1 goal. The
defense is led by goalie Kim Nichol, sweeper Emily Luukko,
stopper Cheslea Contre, backs Brooke Garvey, Rachel
Collins, as well as Jen Treat and Olivia Burrill.
Haley Chesson and Melissa Leonard have provided strong
support at back, center mid and outside mid where needed.
