The FC Napoli GU12 WildFire went wild scoring 19 goals while only giving up 2 in the 5 tournament games. The Wildfire beat OCC in the semi-Final 2-1 before knocking of WYS of RI in the Finals 1-0.

The Wildfire finished the Tournament 4-1-0. They are expected to be a very strong GU13 team in fall MAPLE season 2008.

The SPARKS played spirited soccer all weekend. They finished the tournament 4-0-0 beating NWC 1-0 in the final regular tournament game and then beat them again to take the Nashua Championship away from the home team.

In the finals at the conclusion of regulation time the Napoli Sparks and NWC were deadlocked, so onto extra time (OT). After both overtime periods the score remained even. The game would be decided on PK's.

The Napoli PK shooters were: Emily Dawidczyk, Mercedes Anderson, Natalie Benjamin, Alyson Chase, Shay Gingras, Morgan Lasewicz and Sydney Robinson. The Keeper (who did not allow a regulation goal in the tournament and who only had two goals scored on her the entire MAPLE season) Jordann Hauge turned away 3 NWC PK's.  Napoli wins the GU13 Memorial Tournament Championship on solid PK play.

The Napoli Boys U11 had a strong showing this past weekend. They finished in the finals losing a heart breaker in the Championship game in double OT.

Napoli Hawks go WildFire & Spark HEAT

Hawks prey on Inter SC as Danny Mitchell tears apart the back of the net scoring both Napoli goals.

After coming up a goal short in the first two MAPLE games the FC Napoli Hawks circled in a kettle and played solid futbal’ till the final whistle this week.

“The defense played like they were possessed” said Coach JP Galicia. Led by goalie Alisha Wolanski the four Napoli D-Backs (Catherine Falcone, Melissa Leonard, Rachael Collins & Chelsea Contre) played lights out. The Hawks challenged every 50/50 and won a high percentage. Coach JP went on to say “I think the difference in the game was our defense and our midfielders (Danny Mitchell and Jessica De St. Croix) really stepped up". "We were missing this kind of effort the last couple of games, today I was very pleased with our team's overall performance”.

Hawks play FC United next Sunday at Citizens Bank field #7 at 1:00pm in the MAPLE College Showcase event.

The FC Napoli WildFire lit it up in the 2nd half. After going down 1-0 the WildFire started to burn the Viper D with a storm of hot shots that the Viper's simply could not control. When the smoke settled and the field cooled down the FC Napoli WildFire walked away with a well deserved 3-1 victory over the visiting Southeastern MA opponent.

Napoli goals came from three different players: Julie Mulcahy, Danni Stone and Meghan Dunn.

WildFire next play the Scorpions at Thayer Academy game time 2:00pm.

The Napoli SPARKS stay on top with 1-0 win over the Jr. Pioneers. “This was a total team effort” said Coach Esad “We controlled the middle, played strong at the defensive end and took advantage of a scoring opportunity when we needed to – a total team effort against a good Jr. Pioneer team, this is a good win for us” Obviously Coach Esad was pleased with his team's performance.

The Sparks play the 2nd place Bruno United team in Rehoboth at Milot field 2:45pm next Sunday. Might be a winner take all kind of match?

The FC Napoli HEAT remain in first place with a 7-0 win over the Nor'easter Stng.

“We have our work cutout for us in the next few games” explained Coach Bailey. “A State Cup match against a quick athletic Boston Bolts team on Saturday and a MAPLE match against an always skilled Scorpions team on Sunday”. Both games will be played in Lancaster at the new Citizens Bank turf fields. “Posting our forth shutout of the spring season is good but it is something we must sustain if this team is going to reach it's self identified Team Goals”. “Our Defensive intensity feeds our offense and so far our offensive has responded very well”.

The FC Napoli HEAT enters next weeks competition with 12 goals while allowing only 1 in the first five games of the 2008 spring season.

Napoli HEAT on a roll

The FC Napoli HEAT on a roll winning their 3rd consecutive game and move into 1st place with a Saturday 1:00 Game 2-0 victory against a scrappy Pioneers team.

The HEAT’s first goal came in the opening half as Noreen Raja beat the Pioneers goalie. The play originated from a well  served throw-in by Kristen Lackman that was placed perfectly behind the strong Pioneer defenders. Noreen‘s hustle and speed took the Goalie by surprise as she closed the gap to the ball placing it around the charging goalie for the score.

The HEAT’s second goal came on a break-away by Lizzy Tarpinian, on her second goal of the season. A quick strong throw-in again by Kristen Lackman to Megan Ganahan who fed a nice ball through splitting the defense, Tarp quickly attacked getting in - behind the 'D' creating a 1v1 with the goalie. As the goalie committed Tarp placed the ball in the upper corner to solidify the Napoli victory.

The Napoli TEAM defense once again posted a shut-out. Notable Defensive play came from Kristen Lackman & Hillary Chesson who both played a half-step faster than anyone else on the field.

The HEAT plays Sunday with a 4:30pm game time against the Nor'easter Stng at Marianapoli.

Napoli State Cup Victory & 3 NAPOLI Teams Remain Undefeated

The FC Napoli HEAT defeated a strong well coached Pioneers team on Saturday at Citizens Bank Field. Keeper Dee Leary and the HEAT defense posted another shut-out. The HEAT's lone goal came mid way through the first half off the foot of  Lizzy Tarpinian. Then a disallowed Napoli goal, scored by Striker Colleen Soper, was waved off by the linesman as he ruled that the Pioneer Goalie had possession of the ball even though it bounced some five yards away - Colleen alertly scooped the loose ball placing it into the back of the net for what should have been the second Napoli goal. None-the -less the HEAT advance in State Cup with the 1-0 victory and will  take on the Greater Boston Boltz on May 3rd at either Medford High School (under the lights at 7:00pm) or at Citizens Bank field (game time scheduled for 5:20pm).

Three FC Napoli teams remain undefeated as they move into week four of the MAPLE Season. The GU12 WildFire tied Cape Cod United 2-2. They square off against the Vipers of New Bedford at 2:45 next Sunday at Marianapolis.

The GU13 Sparks score 4 goals (Goals by: Emily Becher, Sydney Robinson, Shay Gingras and Maegan Hernberg) as they defeated the RI Rays 4-0.  The first place Napoli Sparks play the Pioneer's at 4:30 at Home next Sunday.

and The GU17 FC Napoli HEAT defeated the RI Tidal Wave 1-0 at Bliss field in Rehoboth in their Sunday MAPLE match. The HEAT will play two games again this weekend (as well as the following weekend). On Saturday they will again take on the Pioneers at Citizens Bank Field (field #8) and will then play their home opener vs Nor'easter Sting at Marianapolis on Sunday 4:30.

Napoli Blue Magic one up Black Magic

As the cold rain drizzled down and the dark grey skies hovered over head the FC Napoli GU13 Sparks walked off the Millis Oak Grove field with a well deserved warm and sunny 2008 opening day victory (1-0) over a formidable Black Magic opponent.

The Spark’s defense, lead by Mercedes “Merk” Anderson, shut-out the Magic holding them to just eight shots on goal the entire afternoon. The Sparks dodged a bullet early in the second half when a questionable Black Magic PK scoring opportunity failed. You could hear the deep sigh of relief from Napoli Keeper Jordann "Jay" Hauge as the ball sailed over the top of the cross bar.

Striker Emily “Emma” Dawidczyk and inside mids: Natalie “Nat” Benjamin, Sydney "Syd" Robinson and Alyson “AC” Chase sustained good pressure on the Magic keeper, collectively attacking her with nine shots on goal in the first half alone.

The Magic took momentum in the second half opening with six of their eight shots on net in the first ten minutes. With the steady stream of Magic offensive pressure and five corner kick opportunities the momentum advantage was clearly in the Magic’s favor.

Midway through the second half, sparked by the energy and speed of Victoria “Tori” Ferland, the momentum turned back to Napoli when Tori broke down the Magic’s defense taking them on -1v3 - on three consecutive possessions. Her deep aggressive runs put the Magic D on there heals for the rest of the half.

Shortly after Tori’s flurry runs and a pair of hard shoulder to shoulder physical runs by Emma D, Napoli D-back Gina “G” Manzi’s well placed in-direct cross found the ever opportunistic Emily “Emmy” Beacher in front of the net for the games lone goal. It is obvious Emmy has a nose for the goal; she gets herself in good position thus creating good scoring opportunities. Her goal today was big.

“It’s a good team start” said coach Esad “we have a lot of work to do and we need to get better but I like many things I see today”. "Was a good Team effort".

Next week the Sparks travel to Somerset for a 1:00pm games vs Nor'easter Stng.

FC Napoli Sparks & Inferno Win Norfolk Tournament

Both the FC Napoli GU13 Sparks  the GU16 Inferno win the 2008 Winter Break Tournament in Norfolk this past week.

The Spark's high powered striker, Emily Dawidczyk, scored 7 of the 9 Spark goals. "She scored most of her goals taking on the defenders 1v1, this is what playing striker is all about" said coach Darman. The Spark's got outstand defensive performances by Alexa Myers, Kyle Lowe and Goaltender Jordann Hauge. Jordann had 4 outstanding out stretched finger tip saves that in the end proved to be the difference.

The Inferno got good performances from the entire team. They scored 10 tournament goals from a multitude of players. "This was a nice team Tournament" said coach Simone. "We had a very light bench (one sub by tournaments end) and the kids really came to play". "I was very please with the effort and with our ball movement". "This was a great way to start our 2008  Spring pre-season".

FC Napoli player’s shine in MA High School District Finals.

Ronan and Benjamin play BIG

As it is stated in the FC Napoli Mission Goal statement,

“…to produce high quality High School and College soccer athletes”,

the achievement of this Club goal has never been proven more accurate than by the nineteen (19) FC Napoli players that walked onto the Commerce Bank Field at Foley Stadium on Sunday November 11th 2007 to play in the Central MA District Finals.

At 3pm the Auburn Rockets played the Millbury Woolies to 0-0 tie through 100 minutes of regulation and double overtime in an outstanding defensive soccer match. Between the two schools, Auburn & Millbury, thirteen (13) players are FC Napoli Club players.

As the game ended and went into PK’s it was Millbury’s Keeper Erin Ronan (FC Napoli’s GU16 Keeper and a Massachusetts GU16 ODP player) that faced four Auburn shooters, all of whom, Michelle Cavalieri, Jessica Rhodes, Elizabeth Juneau & Justina Melendez, are also FC Napoli players. Ironically the first Millbury selected PK kicker was Dannielle Mitchell also an FC Napoli player.

On Friday night, in Auburn’s semi final PK victory game against two time State Champion (2005 & 2006) Nipmuc Regional High School, all four Auburn shooters were again FC Napoli players. With Elizabeth "Biss" Juneau and Sydney Bailey each hitting the back of the net and with keeper Kate Nadeau (Former FC Napoli Inferno player & currently FC Napoli GU17 Heat player) shutting down four of the five Nipmuc selected players, the Central MA Championship match between Auburn and Millbury (Ronan & Nadeau) was on.

As was published by the T & G the Millbury coach Andy Burnett stated “Their (Auburns) defense just stymied us tonight. We really had a tough time figuring that out. We couldn’t get our through balls through, and we had trouble finding space beyond them. They really did a spectacular job defending us.”

As Auburn quickly learned the Millbury defense was equal to the challenge as they have not allowed a goal in the last 180 minutes of District play. Alexa Baroni (FC Napoli GU17 Heat player) anchored the Millbury defense from her Defensive Midfield (Stopper) position. On Sunday the Millbury defense held strong handing the game over to Ronan to do her thing.

Three of the four Auburn defenders, Bailey, Rhodes and Melendez, are also FC Napoli defenders. Auburn’s Defender/Sweeper Meaghan Williams, who plays on the FC Napoli GU17 Heat team, was out with a knee injury that she received in the semi-finals against Nipmuc.

Sunday’s PK showdown was arguably a goalie match-up featuring the two best Goal Keepers in the area. As far as we (FC Napoli Club) are concerned maybe the two best in Massachusetts.

Against most any other Keeper the Auburn shooters would have likely again been victorious, as was the case verse: Oakmont, Clinton and Nipmuc, Auburn’s three previous District Foes, but against Napoli’s Erin Ronan even the best of Auburn’s shots were spectacularly knocked away.

Behind the outstanding goal keeping of Erin Ronan Millbury won 1-0 to become the Central MA D2 2007 Girls Soccer Champions.

Then in the 5pm game which paired Shrewsbury High School against Algonquin Regional High School, FC Napoli club players played another major roll in the outcome. The 2007 Central MA D1 District Champion Shrewsbury team has rostered six FC Napoli players.

In the 32nd minute of the first half, Shrewsbury Junior Lizz Murray (FC Napoli GU17 Heat) threaded a precise cross pass to teammate sophomore Tory Benoit who easily converted making it 1-0 Shrewsbury.

Then after Algonquin scored to tie it at one, Freshman Emily Benjamin (FC Napoli GU16 Inferno), found teammate Benoit again behind the Algonquin defense to get the assist and to put Shrewsbury back up by one.

In the overtime Napoli’s Emily Benjamin served the ball that gave Shrewsbury their second District Championship in 10 years.

Off an inbounds flick play Benjamin received the ball in front of the Algonquin goal. She made a quick touch one-step move creating space away from her defender and placed the ball perfectly into the left side of the net, thus completing the Shrewsbury High Schools Girls Soccer team’s Goal of becoming the D1 Central MA District State Champions.

Champions: Jamie Kerr; Chelsea Urso, Steph Nugent; Lizz Murray; Emily Benjamin; Brittney Taylor; Dannielle Mitchelle; Alexa Beroni & Erin Ronan are all part of Central MA State District Championship teams. How does it feel? Was it worth it?

We believe it is no coincidence that FC Napoli had nineteen (19) players representing their High Schools in a Championship game. We know how hard you all have worked, we know the scarifies you went through and we know what you are all capable of.

All of us at FC Napoli Club are so proud to be associated with such wonderful athletes as the eighteen who played on Sunday at Foley Staidum.

Congratulations, now Champions go get another one on this week. Napoli Nation will be watching.

FC Napoli Continued Success at the CT TWIST Tournament

For the 2nd straight year the FC Napoli Inferno are the TWIST Tournament Champions.  With some outstanding play upfront and with Keeper Erin Ronan closing the door on every opponents scoring opportunity, the Napoli Inferno were able to cruise through the tournament scoring 12 goals in four games.

Coach Joe Simone was pleased with his teams performance. "We had some great moments this weekend" "our ball movement was outstanding" "most teams have trouble with our team speed and that played a big part in our success in this tournament".

The FC Napoli Sparks also had a very good showing at the TWIST.  They placed 2nd in their bracket and played four very spirited games. The Sparks knocked in 6 goals (Jaime Bailey-1, Dinnea Digrigoli-1, and Emily Dawidczyk-4) and Keeper Jordann Hauge was all over it with 10 saves in a 3-1 victory over the RI Rays. Additional strong play came from Sweeper: Shea Gingras, D-Backs Gina Manzi & Alexa Myers, I-Mid: Natalie Benjamin and Stopper Allison Chase.

Our congratulations to both the FC Napoli Inferno & Sparks for representing Napoli with such a class & dignity.
