Napoli GU15 Inferno
defeat Hamlets and place 1st
The FC Napoli
GU15 Inferno entered the
MAPLE Promotion/Relegation Tournament on Saturday
June 16th needing to prevail over both the Fuller Hamlets and
the SK Vikings. By the time all teams were walking off the Citizens
Bank field in Lancaster on Tuesday night June 19th the
FC Napoli
Inferno team had reached its goal.
With successful playoff round robin matches
Napoli outscored and
out defended their final two opponents 4-2. The
FC Napoli Inferno will once again
have the privilege of competing in the division 1 MAPLE league in the
spring 2008.
This strong showing in the tournament really
comes as no surprise. The Napoli Inferno
are coming off a most productive season:
-
In June of 2006 their MAPLE spring 2006
performance earn them a division 1 MAPLE placement;
-
From December –
February they went undefeated in the TWA Winter Indoor premier league;
-
In March they competed in the Virginia
preseason showcase and battled it out with some of the best talent in
the east coast
confirming
that they can play with anyone;
-
In April they started their State Cup matches
which proved to be very significant as they knocked off their first three opponents
8-0 and advanced into the elite eight – round robin State Cup matches;
-
In May they played in the Nashua Memorial Tournament and won the
Tournament Championship for the 2nd consecutive year;
-
and now in June they once again prevail
against two quality premier teams and earn the MAPLE promotion, placing
them in a division that allows them to compete against the best
Massachusetts has to offer.
In the words of Ron Burton: “Success
is the ability to adapt to change while maintaining a positive balanced
of consistency”.
It appears the
FC Napoli Inferno
have found that balance. Congratulation to each and every member of the
FC Napoli Inferno
Team and a special tip of the hat to coach Joe Simone. Well done!

Napoli
BU14 end strong, John Estes dominate
The positive team
coaching style of Coach John Laskowski is beginning to take hold
with his team. Coach Laskowski has stayed upbeat and confident
through some trying times. He has maintained that his players have
talent and the system in place will prevail in the long run. “We just
need to make a strong consistent run to establish our identity. We are a
young inexperienced team with talent yet unleashed.”
If this past weekend
is any indication Coach Laskowski and his BU14 team were just
unleashed. In the MAPLE Qualifying Tournament the
FC Napoli -Blaze Boys
convincingly defeated Explosion, Nor'easter and Merrimack United. The
Team-Blaze goal scoring eruption was lead by Striker John Estes.
John had multiple goal games highlighted by his 3 goals vs the
typically strong Nor'easter defense. John was sidelined most of
the spring 2007 season with injuries but his reappearance this past
weekend showed just how talented and dominate he can be.
“No one practices
harder than John and no one works on their skills the way John
does”, said coach Laskowski. Coach Esad said “John
is a very talented young player who I have come to enjoy over the past
few years – I love this kid.” Coach Bailey said “John Estes
is the most inspirational player to ever put on an
FC Napoli uniform, he is the kind of young man one can be
certain will be successful in whatever he desires to pursue, it’s just
who John is”.
It should be noted
that the FC Napoli Boys ended the
2007 spring season 6-1-1 including a Tournament Championship and a
Tournament second place finish.
Coach Laskowski
and the FC Napoli Boys U15 2008 team
have some work to do before next April but good coaching coupled with
hard working players who have a positive desire to succeed usually do.

Memorial Weekend
Tournaments, Two Napoli Champions
FC Napoli BU14 Blaze –
Amherst Tournament Champions
The
FC Napoli BU14 Blaze go up to
Amherst NH for the Memorial Tournament and win it all, scoring 9 goals
and giving up only 2.
The
Blaze first shutout NH Classic by a
score of 4-0. Then on Sunday the boys stayed in rhythm by
beating RI Ocean State SC 3-1 and then battling to a 0-0 tie vs Nashua
WC. The Napoli Blaze and Nashua WC,
playing in the top Premier flight in the tournament, not only tied their
first game but were tied in the standings with 7 points.
Napoli, with a slightly better goal
differential, was seeded first in the playoff game with Nashua WC seeded
second.
How close were
the two teams? Well after 120 minutes of play the teams were
still tied. The playoff game regulation ended at 1-1.
With the
undecided future of the BU14 FC Napoli
team the boys stepped out onto the field exhausted as they entering the Over Time.
"They played like true champions." coach
Laskowski said “I am
so proud of them, they have
played hard all season and this weekend it finally all clicked. They are all
good players and this is a very capable team, I just hope we stay as focused
for the entire MAPLE
Tournament”.
The
FC Napoli Boys will be playing in the MAPLE Qualifying
Tournament on
June
9th & 10th at either Citizens Bank, Holliston or CRU Park.
FC Napoli GU15 Inferno
– Nashua Tournament Champions
The
GU15 FC Napoli Inferno girls entered
this tournament as defending Champions and they leave the tournament
once again as Champions.
Inferno won every game convincingly;
they beat NE Eagles 4-1; RI Rays 4-0 and CRU 1-0, before heading to the
playoffs. In the Playoffs they beat the Maine Terriers 4-0 and in the
Finals they again played NE Eagles winning the finals and the
Championship by a score of 4-1.
FC Napoli Inferno will play in the
State Cup June 2nd & 3rd at UMass Amherst in a
round robin format vs Western Mass Pioneers, Cape Cod Crusaders and Western United.
FC Napoli GU16 Heat –
Nashua Tournament Finalists
The
GU16 FC Napoli Heat girls were
defeated in the finals by the NH Phantom of the
Super
Y League.
"Our kids ran out
of gas in the finals and simply could not sustain at the energy level
needed against a team as good as the
NH Phantom" coach Bailey
said. "In the semi finals we played a very physical game against a
well skilled, well coached NH Classic team of the
Region I Northeast Regional League.
I think within the first minute of play; three hard collisions two
explosive body tackles and at least four players from each team were
slowly picking themselves up off the ground. The entire game was played
that way by both teams. Watching our opponent was like seeing a mirror
image of ourselves, a control style, high intense active strikers, strong quick trapping defense and
very aggressive midfield play. The ref. pulled both coaches aside after
the game and said that it was the best played game she has officiated in
her ten years of officiating and it was certainly the most physical
clean game she had done in years, boys or girls."
The
Heat played the RI Warren SC (2-2),
the NH Eagles Elite (2-0), the ME Lakers United (4-1) and NH Classic
(1-0) before reaching the finals.
The
Heat will play in the RI Seaside
Classic on July 7th-8th.
FC Napoli GU17 Hawks –
Nashua Tournament Semi-Finalists
The
GU17 FC Napoli Hawks had a very good
showing at the Nashua Tournament.
They had a 4-0
victory over Derry Eagles, played to a tie vs Bath Clippers (1-1) and a
well played loss to the GU17 NH Classic team. The Hawks entered
the semi finals in fine stride only to find themselves in a dog fight
with a good Hampton Attack SC team. "The game could have gone either
way, we had a few chances and they had a few, their goal was a
questionable offside but we have to tip our hat to Hampton SC, they
played a very good game" coach JP said.
Hampton won the
Championship in the GU17 Premier division.
The
Hawks will be playing in the MAPLE
Qualifying Tournament on
June
9th & 10th at either Citizens Bank, Holliston or CRU Park.

Sparks Undefeated in Nashua
Tournament
The
FC Napoli
Sparks end the spring 2007 season with a 2-0 victory over the Enfield
Breakers at the 2007 Nashua Tournament. Sparks striker Sarakate Matthews
and Outside Midfielder Dinnea Digrigoli scored the two goals that
solidified the undefeated Tournament result.
“This was the
best game we have played in three years” said coach Darman. “The final
game’s victory made our whole spring.”
The
Sparks end
the season with much enthusiasm and even a greater enthusiasm of
anticipation for the Fall Premier season.
Tryouts for the
GU13 Sparks is June 20th & 22nd @ 6:00pm at
Marianapolis Prep. School.

FC Napoli Flames win State
Cup Match on 5th PK
The
FC Napoli Flames have qualified for
the GU18 round robin portion of the State Cup Tournament.
This State Cup Match
started on May 19th and ended seven days later on May 22nd
after a rain delay, more rain, completion of a regulation match, first
full OverTime, second full OverTime, still tied so then into a PK shoot
em out dramatic winner take all conclusion.
So after 147 hrs 18
minutes, +/- (start to finish), Jana Berthiaume stepped to the
line, took a long deep breath and Wham, GOAL!,
Napoli draws first. Then the Crusaders United SC (CUSC)
kicker followed with a bullet shot. Score 1-1.
Napoli’s Cara Laperle then
smashed one into the back of the net followed by another CUSC goal.
Score 2-2.
Heather Quevillon
did her thing for Napoli and put it
past the out stretched arms of the CUSC keeper. CUSC followed suit and
kept the pressure on with a nice shot into the upper right corner. Score
3-3.
So up steps the next
Napoli Striker/Midfielder
Michelle Cavalieri and as she has done so many times before – Goal!
Then it happened, the forth CUSC kicker skimmed her shot over the top of the cross
bar giving Napoli an advantage.
Score Napoli 4-3.
With the lead and one
shot remaining, Coach Esad Darman sent his seasoned soccer
veteran from Woodstock CT, Jodi Theriault up to the line, “I know
I made the right choice with who I selected to take these shots – and
thank god I did” said coach Esad. Jodi calmly stepped to
the line and ended the week long game/event with one final swing of her
leg - Game over and Napoli moves on.
FC Napoli will now take on the #1
seeded Scorpions TBP sometime in the next two weeks. Then they will take
on the Inter Bandits on June 9th at Citizens Bank Field and
the Western Mass Pioneers also at Citizens Bank Field on June 10th.
“It’s time to go to
work” exclaimed coach Esad “our new season just begun.”
State Cup FC Napoli GU15
Inferno score 2 in the 2nd half - State Cup RR
The
FC Napoli Inferno reach new heights
as they enter into the State Cup round robin Tournament. The
Inferno needed to win a few to get
to the round robin. Then recorded victories over CRU 4-0, Scorpions 2-0
and the SF Vikings 2-0.
The
Napoli GU15 Inferno will play at
Citizens Bank Field on June 2nd & 3rd with matches
against Western United, Crusaders and the Western Mass Pioneers in an
attempt to reach the semi-finals at Citizens Bank Field on June 16th.
Best of luck to the
FC Napoli State Cup Teams!

Hawks winning streak
continues
The FC
Napoli Hawks are playing as well as they have ever played.
With a good solid nucleus of talent, some speed up front the team is
younger and more athletic, hence winning games has become secondary,
winning by how much has become the mid match question. Over the past 3
weeks the Hawks have put on a soccer clinic at both ends of the field.
They have won games by scores of 4-0, 5-0 and 4-1, beating North Shore
United, Mission and the RI Rays respectably. Thirteen goal with
only one against equals a goal differential of twelve. Not too bad in a
three game block.
The GU17
Hawks have faced much adversity over the past few seasons but
have finally smashed through the frustration barrier and are playing at
a level that knocks opponents off stride. Bottom-line they are winning
games not only because they are talented, they are winning game because
they are confident, and teams that play with confidents win soccer
matches.
The carryover into the 2008 spring
season should really be interesting. If this team stays on course,
reaching the next MAPLE level of play is within their grasp in 2008.

Sparks Defense Steps Up
The FC Napoli
Sparks defense played one of their best games of the season
on Sunday. Sparks keeper, Jordann Hauge, shutout the Mariners
striker attack with 15 saves. Jordann's quick hands & smart
defensive instruction kept her Napoli
teammates in the game and focused for the entire 60 minutes. The
defensive unit of Kylie Lowe, Natalie Benjamin, Alexa Myers,
Mackenzie Papuga, Olivia Barroni, Hannah Lloyd & Emily Usher, all deserve
recognition for a the solid team defensive performance.
The lone goal came when Kate
McCambridge lofted a shot over the out stretched arms of the Mariner
goalie at about the tenth minute of the second half.
The Spark
will take on the Scorpions on Sunday at MPS, before heading north to
play in the Nashua Cup next weekend.
HAWKS win second in
a row
The FC Napoli
Hawks have it rolling in mid season. In the last two weeks
the Hawks have scored 9 goals and
have recorded their second shutout in two games. The goal tending has
been outstanding and the defensive is working together shutting down all
dangerous runs.
Scoring summary: Michell Thompson
2, Lori Clonigner & Emily Benjamin each had 1.
Coach JP said: "The defense was
really solid again today and with Nikki Leonard at stopper the 'D'-backs
can gamble a little. Our keeper Alisha Wolanski had her second
consecutive shoutout, she is a big part of last two victories."
Hawks
play the RI Rays on Sunday 2:45pm @ MPS in the final league game.

FC Napoli's Harding scores
Heat D Holds
In what was a very exciting game between
two very good GU16 physical teams,
the FC Napoli GU16 Heat scored with
about 10 minutes remaining to take the match 1-0. Jen Harding put
the match away on a 35+ yd bomb. After faking a pass to the flats,
cutting right creating just enough space to launch Jen placed the
shot into the upper right back corner of the net to secure the victory
for the Heat.
Napoli Keeper Dee Leary recorded her 2nd MAPLE
shutout of the season and her 6th overall shutout this spring.
Alexa Barroni, at 5' (maybe) and
at less than 100 lbs soaking wet (maybe), made a big difference in the
outcome of this match. "She played the best game I have ever seen her
play and I have watched Alexa play soccer since she was 9 years
old", coach Bailey Said. "Alexa is quick and has always had great
foot skills but today she battled players like the Scorpions 6'1"
sweeper for headers and was going from banging the Scorpions stopper to
slide tackling the Scorpions O-Mid in the same sequence of plays. Her
aggressive midfield play coupled with the play of her midfield mate
Hillary Chesson (the other 6' giant) allowed us to control the
middle of the field. Watching the two smallest players on the field play
like they were 6'5" was rather impressive from my side of the field".
The game was as physical as could be
played. "I know we are pretty banged up right now". "By games end we
were out of ice pks gauze pads and ban aids" coach Bailey said. "But we
are what we are a very physical team". "And when we play other strong
physical teams the game can really elevate to another level". "I think
we saw that today".
With this victory the
FC Napoli Heat are tied for first
place with the Boston Bolts. The Heat
play the Bolts this Saturday May 12, 4:30 at MPS. With just 3
games remaining this might be a winner take all match. The only common
opponents for these two teams are the Cape Cod Crusaders and the Boston
Blast. Napoli beat the Blast 3-0
(Bolts beat the Blast 3-0) & Napoli
tied the Crusader 1-1 (Bolts tied the Crusaders 2-2). Saturday at 4:30
should be fun.

FC Napoli Wildfire get it
started with 7 Goals
After having the first two games of the
season rained out, the FC Napoli GU11 WildFire
defeated N.Shore united by a score of 7 to 1. The
offensive barrage was lead by Gigi Guenther scoring 3, Meghan
Dunn with 2, Gabby Mann 1 and Robyn Thornburg 1. The
girls capitalized on every offensive opportunity, scoring 70% of shots
taken. The team had stellar defense all day, allowing only one goal and
owning the playing field. Coach Stein's unsung hero's; Rebecca
Thornburg, Amanda Collins, Nicki Dion, Dany Stone
and Julie Mulcahy dominated the defense and created many
offensive plays. The team would like to say thank you to all the fans
who came to support Wildfire's first
game of the 2007 spring season.
The FC Napoli GU10 Fuse
upset the Cape Cod Crusaders 5-1 in an 11:45 am Sunday Home field
opener. The Fuse are scheduled to
play Western United away at 10:30am next Sunday.
The FC Napoli
GU15 Inferno
scored six goals this weekend, win a State Cup Match and
knock off a formidable MAPLE opponent. The State Cup 4-0 victory
over CRU places the Inferno just two games away from reaching the
Tournament round robin June 2nd & 3rd. The Sunday 2-0 MAPLE victory over
SF Vikings put the Inferno D1 team in a good position to challenge for
the top spot over the next few weeks.
The FC Napoli GU16 Heat
stepped it up and played a solid game on Sunday. The 3-0 win over Boston
(wk 3) places the Heat in 2nd place
in the division, with the Crusader's scheduled at home (4:30) next
Sunday.

game by both teams and ended the double header (10:20pm start time) with a
flurry of goals vs a Worcester United team.
"I think everyone had a hand in a goal
or two tonight" said coach JP, "we played very solid defense and
really controlled the mid-field play" "We are a pretty good
quick aggressive team and I think we are starting to communicate better
and that has made a big difference" needless to
say Coach JP was very pleased with the play of his

FC
Napoli U18 open with Flames a Blazing
FC Napoli wins
5-1
The FC Napoli GU18
team opened the Spring 2007 season playing a Div. 1 game vs. a strong Gr. Boston Bolts. Napoli was not
intimidated by the positive history the Bolts club has established over
the past few year. Napoli came out firering and score 5 X
in the 2nd half with goals
from Jody Theriault, Maddie Barber and 3 from
Jordan Frollo.
Coach Darman stated that he thought his
team controlled the midfield, with outstanding play by Jana
Berthiaume and Heather Quevillon. "Our defense played
was also solid especially our sweeper Jill St George, she
controls everything in the back" Darman said. He went on to say Erica
Gagliastre was the was the unsung star. "Erica played with
great hustle and desire, this is what I like to see"
The Flames next
game is vs Inter Bandits on April 15th at

The FC Napoli Flames
(GU18) pulled the upset in the
finals by beating the Maryland Hagerstown Soccer Club 1-0. The lone goal
came on a beautiful lead feed from Leah Carbonneau to her
streaking FC Napoli teammate,
Shannon Mulvey (Franklin
Pierce College), who scored on what coach
Darman said was an unbelievable shot.
Congratulations to both the
FC Napoli Heat &
Flames for your outstanding VA
Tournament efforts.
Special VA Tournament Note:
What is the definition of "TEAMMATE".
Well this past weekend the FC Napoli
club witnessed a great example of "Teammate"
support by one of it's players.
Kara
Laperle is without question one of the best U18 MAPLE D1
players in the league, this has been no secret to anyone who has taken
the time to watch Kara play, but down at the VA Beach Tournament
Kara displayed another outstanding quality, Team Leadership. You
see Kara is just coming off a serious injury that has kept her
off the field for sometime and although she has spent many hours in rehab
she has not yet been given clearance to resume game condition
activities.
Given the fact that she would not be
able to play in this tournament did not deter her from going to VA to
support her team. Making such an effort to travel some 534 miles,
absorbing the hassles and costs associated with hotel accommodations,
all coupled with the disappointment of not being able to play, was a
pure act of selflessness displayed by Kara.
Kara, from all of us at
FC Napoli we Salute you. It is with
great respect and admiration that we say Thank
You for being such a great example of what it takes to be an
FC Napoli teammate.

Merit Award GU16 "Defense":
Heat Team Defense receives Merit Award.
The FC Napoli Heat Team has been
undefeated for the last two MAPLE seasons and has compiled a record of 22-wins,
2-loses, 9-ties over the last four league seasons.
With offensive personnel being added; Jen Harding, Colleen Soper,
Hannah Jerdee and Hillary Chesson,
the Heat's goal scoring power has combine for 27 goals in the last 14 games
with nearly a 2.00 goals/game average. With the Heat's Offence structure now in place it
is somewhat ironic that it has been the Heat's defense that has exceeded expectations over the
last two years. Lead by Keeper Deirdre Leary the defense has allowed an
ave of only .28 goals/game, and has recorded 10 shutouts
in the last 14 MAPLE games.
This outstanding effort displayed by the GU14 & GU15
Heat Teams defense is why
FC Napoli has chosen the
FC Napoli Heat Defense as a unit for Merit Award recipient.
The 8 primary defenders that played in every game through out
the 2005 & 2006 seasons are:
Brittnie Taylor, Stephanie Nugent,
Elizabeth Murray, Jaime Kerr, Sydney Bailey, Megan Granahan,

FC Napoli coach playing w/Mass Twisters
 |
FC Napoli's
BU14 coach Federico Molinari, has been
playing professionally for a long time. This off season he could be
found playing with the Springfield based pro-team,
Mass Twister's of the
AISL. Coach Federicao is
best known for his midfield play with
1st Team
Gimnasia
E. La Plata in Argentina.
Federico's
USL
soccer league contract was renewed by
W.M.P.
for the 2007 season. He was subsequently traded to the
Rochester Raging Rhinos
also of the
USL.
Due to this move coach Molinari will not be available to
coach the FC Napoli BU14 team
this spring.
FC Napoli
wishes coach Molinari the best and hopes he can find his way
back to Napoli in the future
when his playing days are over.
You still have time to catch coach
Molinari playing in his last few games with the Twisters before he heads off to
New York. Go to

Napoli Sparks fly, 2007 FKWB
Tournament Champions
The FC
Napoli Sparks began the ForeKicks Winter
Break Norfolk Tournament with a shutout win over
the Fuller Hamlets and end the Tournament with a shutout win over the FC
Holliston Cougars.
The Sparks
defense was huge in this tournament. They gave up just one goal in four
games. Keeper Jordann Hauge was solid in net, while fullback
Alexa Myers stepped it up shutting down opponent runs time after
time.
Alexa Myers
(Auburn) was
clearly the player of the tournament for the
Sparks. Her teammates; Natalie Benjamin
(Shrewsbury), Alyssa Boyle
(Auburn), Dinnea Digrigoli
(West Brookfiled), Victoria
Freeland (Dayville CT), Kylie Lowe
(Brimfiled), Sarakate Matthews
(Northboro), Katie Mccambridge
(Dudley) &
Jaime Bailey (Auburn), held the midfield play and made strategic attacking
runs spreading the ball and receiving scoring from four different players;
Benjamin, Mccambridge, Matthews and Direigoli.
The Sparks
will play in two more Tournaments before the start of the MAPLE spring
2007 season.

FC Napoli
WildFire had a great showing in the Winter Break Fore Kicks
Tournament as well. The Wildfire
went undefeated in the tournament only to get knocked out (despite some
outstanding goal tending by goalie Meghan Dunn) in a PK
tiebreaker. Of significant note the
WildFire played up an age group and showed they can play with
anyone. Dazzling effort WildFire!

FC
Napoli HAWKS open the preseason in style
The Hawks
have a new coach, 13 new players and a Team style of confidence as they
begin the 2007 spring preseason indoors. Coach
JP Galicia coached the FC
Napoli GU18
Missiles
to 4-2-1 record last spring and coached the FC
Napoli GU10 Fuse this past fall 06. This spring, along with assistant
coach Christian Garcia, Coach JP looks to quickly solidify
this teams unity and raise the Hawks aggressive mode of play to the next
level.
The FC
Napoli HAWKS opened the preseason with a solid 4-0 win over a
feisty Worcester team. The HAWKS
scoring came from four different players. New comer,
Jessica De St Croix, from Hopkinton, got things started just three minutes into
the game with her first goal in an FC Napoli
Uniform. The Hawks kept
the pressure on by getting goals two and three from veteran players Lori
Clonigner and Hope
Perfetto.
Napoli’s forth and final goal came in the second half when
Molly Guyott's strong left foot put the ball past the outstretched
Worcester Keeper and into the back of the net.
Coach JP said “It was nice to
get some early goals and gain some confidence, but what I was most
impressed with was the team defense.”
The HAWKS
defense played like they had been together for years. Christiana Connolly
took control in the middle and broke up numerous Worcester attacks. Her
speed, vision and ability to anticipate had Worcester on its heels all
night. Hawk’s veterans Rachael Collins and Emily Fitzpatrick,
Fitzpatrick coming off of knee surgery last season,
worked well with rookie Sweeper Laura Montross to squelch
all Worcester scoring opportunities.
The Hawks
take on the Fuller Hamlets at 9:00pm next Friday night 2/23/07 at the Auburn SportsPlex.

FC
Napoli's Hillary Chesson Named SWCL All Star
Hillary Chesson was one of eighteen players named
to the SWCL West All Star Team. Hillary played for the
FC Napoli GU15 HEAT last spring
(coached by Chris Bailey) as
well as for the David Prouty high school team this past fall. "Hillary
is a very talented young lady with a lot going for her" said coach
Bailey. "I am not surprised at all that she received this honor as a
sophomore, she is a wonderful player, she was an impact player in SWCL
last year as a freshman".
Hillary plays center midfield for her
FC Napoli team. Coach said of
Hillary, "Our offence is designed to go through her, she has a great
sense of the game and sees the field real well". "She is also one of the
most unselfish players I have coached". "Hillary enjoys being the
play maker and I think she gets more satisfaction setting up our
strikers and being our point of attack/target player than she does
scoring herself". "What really makes Hillary an outstanding
athlete is her attitude and the way she approaches every practice and
every game". "A real joy to coach."
Hillary is also a varsity basketball player for David Prouty High School. We are proud to have such
a great athlete of character as a member of the
FC Napoli HEAT team.
Congratulations Hillary!

Julia Barry
gets hugged by teammate after scoring the winning PK in
the State Finals |
|
|
|
FC
Napoli's Julia Barry leads West Boylston High
School to a 2007 State High School Girls soccer Title. Julia, a Freshman at WHS,
plays with the FC Napoli
Inferno team (coached by Joe Simone).
Julia played a prominent role for her High School team all
season and stepped it up another notch during the State
Tournament. Julia scored the only goal in the semi-finals
at Szot Park in
Chicopee
against soccer power Lee HS on Wednesday 11/15/06. The 1-0 victory
moved WHS into the State Finals on Saturday where Julia
followed her goal winning ways scoring another winning goal
knocking in the deciding PK against
Norwell to elevate WHS to a 1-0 State Championship title at
Quincy-Veterans Stadium.
Talk about pressure.
Julia exemplifies the excellence
FC Napoli players strive for. She is living proof that
had work, technical skill and perseverance are all qualities of
athletic success. She is also living confirmation that the established
written Goal of FC Napoli: "...
to produce high quality High School and College soccer athletes",
is much more than a dream.
Julia from all of us at
FC Napoli, Congratulations!
And along with the community of West Boylston, your High School,
parents and friends know we are all very proud of you! |

FC
Napoli victorious over previously unbeaten FC United.
As the saying goes “to be the best – you must play the
best” well...
The FC
Napoli BU14 Blaze took to the field on Sunday against a very
skilled and well coached FC United team. To win so convincingly by a
score of 5-1 just demonstrate how talented the
FC Napoli Blaze players are. It was rather
obvious by the intensity and physical tone that was set from the start
that the Napoli boys were focused
and ready for United. Napoli players
Jesse Brunelle, Caneron Canale and Ryan Moynihan
all played with a little extra as they were playing against their former
team / teammates for the first time. The motivation displayed by these
three players seamed to pickup the entire team.
“To beat a quality team like FC
United is a good win for us” said first year FC
Napoli Argentinean
coach Frederico Molinari. “Our play was
strong on both sides of field”. “We play the Hamlets next, I expect the
same passion when we walk onto field against them as we had against this
United team”.
The FC
Napoli Blaze moved the ball well, spreading the field and
finding the open player. Five (5) goals from four (4) different players
clearly shows good patients and a solid tactical approach. Ben
Gustavson had two (2) goals, while Ian Stadig, John Estes
and Jayson Dasilva all contributed with one (1) goal each.
The defensive player of the game was
clearly “Power Sweeper" Joel Massa and as always Keeper Peter
Boguszewski got the job done in high style.
Coach Molinari
continued, “It has taken us a few game to get it going and get
back to good style of Napoli
soccer”. “I think the last few weeks we have good improvement”. "The
game against the Scorpions team was a disaster from before the start,
when some players and I got stuck on the Mass Highway behind that
accident and missed the game, that was a bottom point, this game against
United I hope is a turn point that we can advance from”.

FC Napoli’s
Shannon Mulvey @ Soccer Powerhouse Franklin Pierce
As the first FC Napoli graduating
Senior,
Shannon
Mulvey
has taken her skills to new levels.
Shannon is playing for the 5 time NCAA National DII Champion
Franklin Pierce College located in Rindge, New Hampshire.
Shannon was a highly recruited senior last year and selected
Franklin Pierce and coach
Jeff Bailey (199-14-7) over many other outstanding college soccer
programs.
Shannon said the history and traditions of soccer excellence at
Franklin Pierce made the decision easy. Over the past 13 years Franklin
Pierce has made 13 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances,
played in 8 NCAA final fours, and won 5 National Championships. In
addition Franklin Pierce has won the NE-10 Championship 6 years in a
row.
Shannon had played Striker for the FC
Napoli Flames and coach
Esad Darman since the Flames first season. Her speed, skill and
desire played a big part in the 2006 FC Napoli
Flames (6-1-0) successful Division 1 placement.
Our congratulations to
Shannon
Mulvey
for setting such lofty goals and meeting the challenges head on. We are
certain that with the same focus and determination your college
successes are sure to foster the same positive results.
Shannon, all of us at FC Napoli
wish you all the best in your soccer career and college experience at
Franklin Pierce.

Amber Truhanovitch - out of
Soccer
It is with great emotion that the
FC Napoli club
report that Amber Truhanovitch will no longer be playing soccer.
During a high school game on Friday 9/15/06 against
Shepard Hill, Amber took an extremely hard hit to the head and was
unconscious for sometime. She was taken by Ambulance to UMass Trauma
where she stayed until Monday afternoon. According to her mom, "She is
home now, still having difficulty with noise levels, adding and
subtracting, and comprehension. The doctors said her brain is in
shock... and will take a couple weeks to get back to normal. The
neurologists (4) have told her that soccer will no longer be a part of
her life... she has had to many head injuries and the health needs to
come first.. so... looks like Triathlon will be Ambers new sport.... "
Amber has been a longtime player with
FC Napoli. She has been a leader
of the
FC Napoli Hawks team and has
been a prolific goal scorer on both her
FC Napoli and High School teams.
Please join us in wish Amber a speedy and complete recovery.
9/30/06 Update: Amber is doing well.
She is slowly getting back to normal activities. She will not able to
play any contact sport ever but will be able to run cross-country and
compete in the triathlons as she so enjoys. Amber will
always be a member of the FC Napoli
club and we are all routing for her.

FC Napoli Fuse and
Raze victorious.
The FC
Napoli GU10 Raze and Fuse both put the ball in the net
multiple times and were victories in week two. Both teams played solid
defense. Coach Simone said “Wins in these games at this young an
age is really insignificant, the fact that we are moving the ball
properly is what I am most pleased about” Coach JP (girls Fuse
coach), was pleased with the overall play and high energy the girls
played with. :It was hot and our bench was short, but the girls never
stopped playing hard”.
The Fuse take on Scorpions next week while the Raze
play host to the Hamlets. First home game for both teams.

U10 begins new
Era with MAPLE
The FC
Napoli Girls and Boys U10 teams entered the first MAPLE U10
season with play on Sunday 9/10/06. The two FC
Napoli teams have only been together for a few weeks and many
of the players are still learning each other's names, however with the
quality of Coaches the Club has provided to our two U10 teams, (Joe
Simone FC Napoli Boys U10 Coach & Division 1 Boys Varsity Head Coach SPM and
jEan Paul
Galicia
FC Napoli
Girls U10 Coach & Division 1
Girls Varsity Head Coach
Burncoat HS),
it should not be long before these young players develop into two
quality soccer
teams.
Both
teams tied their first game, with scores of 2-2 and 3-3. Development is
the
FC Napoli
proven trademark and the potential shown from both of these two U10
teams is exciting.
Teams
that stay together and learn to play together most often experience that
ultimate satisfaction that competitive sports can beget. Players (and
parents) that understand Commitment, Contribution, Communication,
Cooperation rapidly learn at an early age that the ultimate success
comes from the building of team success and not from anything
else.
FC Napoli
is pleased to see that the potential for these two young U10 teams is in
synch with the successful direction established by the older
FC Napoli
teams (U14 – U18).
The display of team
practice ethics, supportive team behaviors, patience in team building,
honest feedback, the formation of relationships, and team goal directed
athletic activities set forth by the FC Napoli
U14-U18 teams, serve as great blue prints for our two new U10
teams to follow.
Welcome aboard U10’s - The sky’s the
limit – The opportunity to build something special over the next few
years is what you make of it. Enjoy the FC
Napoli experience.

IT’s
a NAPOLI TWISTER
The FC
Napoli Inferno breezed into
Wallingford
CT on Saturday
(August 19th)
with the hopes of
competing in the finals. They leave the tournament with
Tornado like force, posting the
most prolific offensive attack in the tournament. The Inferno had
defenses twisting on end, as the Napoli
offence knock in 28 goals in five games. They not only place first in the
division, but also established themselves as a powerful aggressive
scoring team.
As Coach Simone
pointed out “the defensive was real tight as well” “We only gave up one
goal and shots against were minimal”. “Nice when both sides of the field
are playing at this high a level”.
The
FC Napoli
Inferno ended
the MAPLE season at 4-1-2 and has now won 2 Tournament championships in
a row (Nashua NH & the CT TWIST) going 9-1-0 in their last 10 Tournament
games.

Germain is named MVP
Cara Germain
received the FC Napoli Club 2006 MVP Award. Cara was honored for
her outstanding play this spring season.
According to her coach Esad Darman, what truly made Cara
deserving of this award was her multi clutch performances all season.
Cara typically played as a defender, but was often moved upfront
late in games when a goal was essential.
Her goal
in the closing moments of the Division 1 playoff qualifier vs the highly
talented
Aztec’s
tied the score at 2 setting up a “win and in” situation in the final
game vs Western United.
Cara follow
with another clutch last second goal vs Western United. In a must win
game, with less than 20 seconds remaining in stoppage time,
Cara’s
strong play catapulted the FC Napoli GU17 team into Division 1. Her last
second goal was an outstanding individual scoring effort and is one that
will be remembered by those in attendance for a long time. “It doesn’t
get any better than that,” said coach
Darman.
Cara
is a special player and a wonderful young lady. We are honored to have
her as a member of FC Napoli.
Congratulations Cara!
