Director of FC Napoli: Esad Darman
|
FC Napoli was established in 2002 by Director Esad Darman. It evolved from a frequent gathering of coaches sharing a common opinion that too many young athletes of quality were not receiving the training they needed to properly develop as "Premier" Soccer athletes. To this end FC Napoli has grown to provide an alternative pathway for young players who desire to work at developing their skills. FC Napoli's quick success in recent years can be directly attributed to Bosnian native Esad Darman. A former Professional and National team soccer player and coach, Esad has brought a European flavor to both the training and coaching of FC Napoli athletes. In addition to his Directing responsibilities, Coach Darman coordinates ESA winter indoor clinics, runs the ESA summer camps, and provides talented FC Napoli players with opportunities to not only play Premier soccer, but to be successful playing Premier, High School and College Soccer. In the Winter of 2002 in a small gym in Worcester Massachusetts, FC Napoli began training young soccer players. The first training sessions consisted of about twenty U10 - U14 players. In the spring of 2003 FC Napoli held its first Premier tryouts for three teams, Girls U12 & U13 and boys U11, these teams are currently known today as the Inferno, the Heat and the Blaze. By the summer of 2003 the player numbers had grown to over sixty. The participation and enthusiasm that followed, at the two week long summer clinic sessions, was extremely high. Players and parents watched as young players began to develop into what are now some of the best soccer players in Central Massachusetts. FC Napoli has rostered players on every central MA girls high school Championship team, (Div 1,2 & 3), since 2004. (as of 1/2007) The first year teams (Fall 2003) posted a respectable combine MAPLE record of 13-9-5. These same 3 teams posted a spring 2006 combine record of 34-3-5 and all were promoted to D1 or D2 in the spring of 2006. In that same season the entire FC Napoli club posted combine MAPLE league record of 34-13-8, with only one team losing more than 2 games for the season (with 2 undefeated teams) and a collective 26-5-3 tournament record. As of December 2006 FC Napoli has 10 teams (8 girls teams & 2 Boys teams). Three teams in division one, three teams in division two, two teams in division 'D' and two U10 teams. The FC Napoli club has currently grown to include over 250 soccer players from ages 10 to 18. Athletes reside in over 40 different communities throughout central Massachusetts, northern Connecticut and RI. Geographically FC Napoli had rostered players from as far north as Gardner MA, as far west as Palmer MA, as far east as Hopkinton MA and as far south as Storrs CT. The true history of FC Napoli lies in stories and successful team events yet to come. Stay tuned. |
